Here are some apps that help you decrease the environmental footprint of your food consumption.

The food industry contributes by 26% to the global greenhouse gas emissions. Most of these emissions are caused by livestock farming, the use of fertilisers and wasting food. In order to change something about the extensively negative environmental impact of the food industry, it is necessary that we increasingly nourish ourselves through plant-based diets and make sure that we only use and buy the foods we really need in order to cut food waste. These apps can help you with creating a more sustainable lifestyle and improving your carbon footprint.

Is an app that wants to fight against food waste that is being caused by restaurants, cafes, grocery stores or food producers. Instead, it gives the unsold items a second chance. Through the app you can purchase these items at a lower price and save them from being wasted. What you will get, however, will stay a surprise until you picked it up.

The principle is the same as Too good to go, nevertheless, here you can choose which foods you would like to pick up. However, the app does not yet cooperate with as many locations as Too good to go. So far the app can be extensively used in Sweden, but also France and England have some cities where you can find businesses that joined the Slacktivism, as Karma calls it.

This application is equally available as a web version and provides you an overview of where you can pick up fruits from trees for free as they do not belong to anyone.

Did you again buy too much? With the Olio app you can now share, exchange or give away the excessive food items you bought and do not need anymore. The app equally gives you the opportunity to lend and borrow household items from people in your area.

Keeps track of the food items you bought by simply scanning your receipt and makes sure that you do not waste any of them. In order to help you with this challenge it gives you the latest food waste reducing tips and tricks and many more features that support you in reducing your environmental impact.

Helps you get away from meat and dairy products, tracks your consumption and shows you the impact you have on the environment due to the changes you make in your lifestyle and eating habits. In order for you to master this task, the app also gives you various vegan recipe ideas.

Especially if you are on a plant-based diet this app is your lifesaver. Where ever you go it always shows you nearby restaurants and cafes with vegan offers, so you do not spend half a day looking for suitable options to eat at.
