Some easy and simple ways how you can make a sustainable impact.

There are different ways how you could support environmental and sustainable projects. Of course, the most impactful one is to donate to environmental organisations in order for them to be able to carry out their missions. However, not every person has the financial means to do so. In this case, signing petitions and getting involved in environmental projects is a good alternative. This blog post introduces you to five different climate change petitions that you could sign.
Plastic is a huge threat for our planet. It does not only harm the environment with its non-degradable character, but it also endangers the life and health of both animals and humans. Greenpeace therefore aims at calling on big companies to stop using unnecessary plastics for the production and packaging of their products and instead choose more sustainable alternatives.
As the climate crisis is getting more severe, natural catastrophes are getting increasingly stronger, destroying the living space of numerous people from vulnerable regions. The number of climate crisis refugees is therefore constantly growing. UNHCR wants to bring more awareness to this issue and demands from governments to actively do something against this problem.
Carbon emissions heavily add to the rising amount of greenhouse gases that are responsible for global warming. The air travel industry is among others one of the industries that contributes the most to the carbon dioxide emissions. Nevertheless, instead of decreasing the number of flights, airlines promote their flights even more to restore sales that went down during the pandemic. Their promotional activities, however, often include greenwashing. Thus, this petition aims at reaching government authorities and demands from them to reduce flights to a minimum.
Copper and nickel are being increasingly used, for example, for the production of cars or batteries. Nevertheless, many of these metals are being gained from mines in the rainforest. Those mines do not only destroy the precious rainforests, but they also endanger the indigenous folks that live there, destroy their habitat, and contaminate water sources. One country that mostly benefits from the metals is Germany and since it’s the most influential economy in Europe, Rainforest Rescue wants to call on the German government to move to sustainable approaches without harming the rainforest even further.
In their mission of finding new sources of oil, Shell plans to drill at the Wild Coast of South Africa. Nevertheless, during this process, loud shockwaves will be sent out that will enormously affect the marine life in this region. Especially for whales this could have dramatic effects as the mission will be carried out during the whale mating season. Greenpeace wants to prevent that from happening by contacting the CEO of Shell and demanding them to stop the mission.
